Now...
A sadish worry loaded blog coming up...
people not in the mood are excused from the web page now...
I'm not going through the best of times...It's just not good...
Besides all the literature I have to read for the different credits at uni, most of which are just useless sometimes, I keep accepting artistic work from people...
now don't get me wrong, I love doing them, and I'm even Happier when I see them being used, always the better if it's for His glory, but besides the time factor, there's my bloody laptop...
My laptop has been with me the past six years...I've worked a lot on it, carried it to practically any location, done some gd pictures and videos too, if i do say so myself, but it is now getting old...
It cant keep up with the work I want to do...and with the regular crashes...starting any project in it is a risk. Saving every so often wont help as you are never sure it's even going to switch on again.
Besides this fact, If it happens to be a 'good' day, the battery looses its charge after 5 minutes, and to add to this the power supply doesnt connect well...It needs to be kept under pressure or It just won't hold...
So I need a new laptop to continue the work I love doing...and heres the main problem...the money...As most of you know I'm in my third first year, that means no smart card and no stipend...so all books and stuffs comes out of my 0 income. so you can imagine how likely the possibilities of me buying a laptoip in the near future are...
the lack of a car...I'm dealing with...It's like i survived before I can do it again...walking bussing and getting lifts...we're moving along.
So sitting down and talking seriously with my mum yesterday...I re-realised (that's realised again) that I need a job...ofcourse this has it's own problems...I find myself incapable of studying and having a mentally stressful job at the same time. The ideal situation would be to find some one who is willing to pay me for what I love the most...I need to get paid for drawings, posters, filming and editing projects I get myself involved in...
again, i dont wanna be misunderstood...I'm not trying to suggest to those people who I've done stuff for, or doing stuff for, to pay me, i accepted without payment so thats settled...but it would just be the ideal situation.
the next best would be finding an evening part time in a shop somewhere...(me being a geek...preferably a book shop)...any one knows of anything...let me know.
To add to my worries filming team, besides always needing new equipment, now needs a new van, as most of you've heard, the one we were using, kindly provided by Mr. Abela, was stollen, used in a robbery, and dumped into the sea near Valletta.
http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20090227/local/van-pulled-ashore
http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20090226/local/car-crashes-into-the-sea
so the problems keep on coming.
I think I've ranted on long enough.
so
see you...
Tonight y4j youth mass at San Gwann...I should be there...

On Masks (part 2)
I had a chance to think abit more on the subject on my way home last night/this morning...
The whole concept of masks is a subject that fascinates me a lot...
I was thinking on why would someone wear a mask.
I mean the fitting in reason is valid enough, but almost everyone always grows out of the stage of wanting to fit in with a group of people, everyone grows up and becomes comfortable with what type of person he or she is and finds a group that he fits into...
so if you are yourself...why would you want to wear a mask and hide your feelings, thoughts and emotions?
I think i came up with one of the many reasons...and I find it's very valid for me...I can obviously not speak for others.
We are encouraged repeatedly to un-mask...and yet...even among friends...especially among friends...when we do let our emotions show...
when we actually act sad, angry whatever...
we are ridiculed or labeled...seriously think about it...act your feelings and people will accuse you of being mopey, or over-reactive...I obviously include myslef in the group of people who may act unkindly towards someone opening up himself...
then I thought to myself...so whenever we wear a mask...it to hide something because of others...
no
I recalled a few times when something was wrong, and all I could do was think and worry about it...
Saturday evening arrives...and a mask drops, covering our worries from ourselves...the train of thought "bugger it for tonight...i wanna have fun" and there we would have hid our worries from our self, and in so doing obviously from others too...
"look around there's another mask behind you"

On Masks
I was thinking...
As the theme of the last youthful worship said...we all wear masks...
and its true...
we all show the world the face we think they'll like more...or the face we think fits in the most...
or more commonly we put on a smiling face when we just want to frown, or cry...
as i was thinking about this...i realised how the metaphor "wearing a mask" actually fits perfectly...
When wearing a mask...if someone comes really close...usually through the eyes, one can see who the person really is...
so in life...the people really close to us...can usually tell who we are, again usually through our eyes (the eyes are the windows of the soul)
Although...i think the problem gets bigger when the people who should be close enough to realise we are not being our self...don't...
due to a lack of time, consideration or anything else...
either way....
...
...
dunno if i actually wrote anything substantial to be honest...
but it hit me as something important...
...i gotta go now...
...lunch...
...and gotta change my mask first...

Nothing
I sit. I stare. I think.
The cursor flashes in its eternal perfect rythym on the blank white area where thoughts are meant to be be revealed, expressed, thrown out to the world.
I stare.
I look down.
I raise my hands over the keyboard: a rectangle of letters numbers and symbols, all mean something or have a function to there existance in their specific location in their apperent random placing.
I pause.
My finger moves over the 'I'.
I rest my hands back onto my lap.
I look up at the screen.
Blink. Blink. Blink. Blink. Blink.
My fingers dance over the keyboard.
'Hey Guys'
I pause.
Sigh.
Backspace.
I think. I stare. I leave.

the start of a traditiong
Right..
as promised, I am writing the second blog.
We have started a tradition:
Every year...in the first seven days of Febuary, the first swim of the year will take place.
Today, the seventh of Febuary 2009, it began.
The first: Matt Urpani, Martine and myself.
well...
Nicky Urpani was there too...but all he did was taunt us, call us crazy and of course take the photos...but a shout out to him anyway.
the best part though...after struggling against the wind to get to where we going to jump from, and jumping without thinking...were the few seconds in the air, where one has a lot of time to think:
"This was not a good idea...here is comes...this is goign to be cold...here it comes...I'm going to freeze...here it comes...no turning back now...here it-"
well...
congrats to all of us though...we didnt scream...
Matt and I actually got up and went for a second jump :)
After a while it was actually ok...we got comfortable...
either because we got used to the cold...
or cause our nervous system shut down...lol
comfortable enough for a photo in that winter sea
...until next year...
when hopefully we'll be a bigger group of people facing the cold, the wind, and more difficult the psychological blocks against swimming in frikkin Febuary.
Matt is hoping for at least 10 people...I say we can find more.

Post Production Panic
Hey people,
So...exams are over...as I assume you all know
started second semester...and I love my time table:
Monday: 11-12
Tuesday: 8-9, 11-13
Wednesday: 8-11
Thursday: 8-12
Friday: free
:)
got that?
I'll say it again:
Friday: free
and pls note I never finish later that 13:00
anyway, besides this relaxed timetable, there is nothing relaxed in my everyday.\
Besides the various commissions for designs from various people I'm working on at the moment, the filming team have entered 'Post Production Panic'
Basically, we have begun working on 4given...it's our 6th season (i think) and i'm really excited...
haven't started the actual filming yet, although that starts soon...but began working on the stuff needed to be done before to make life easier later...
mostly its manual preparation of a whole bunch-a wires and stuffs, but there is also some exciting things going on at the office...
including making a new logo, new theme sequence, and getting used to the new equipment we have recently purchased (cringes at the memory of the price tag)
yesterday was particularly entertainingly, excitingly, interesting...we made our first test on a certain green something :)
fun-ness all round...
...and yet...
I need something new...
i just need to add that something to my week that breaks the repetitive rhythm of everyday...top of the list is an instrument...and sadly, I've almost given up on the drum thing, as a) they are too expensive, and b) even if i did buy them, I'd have nowhere to put them. but things might work out for a bass, which would be my second choice...
although, my brain reminds me constantly, with all the other things you need to buy, like a car and a computer (...as mine is getting old, or going mad, or both, either way I can't work on all the stuff I need to on it without risking going insane, after loosing all my work) that the bass+amp will have to take a place towards the end of the queue.
besides the mentioned boredom though, everything is going dandy, the 4given stress is fun to me...stressful and to be avoided, but while its here, it's fun.
anyway..
surprisingly a long post..
lol sat down at a computer at Chapelancy to pass a bit of time this morning, as my first lecture of the day got canceled...
insomma...
off to read some more 'Dark Tower'
