on music

Hey people...
i know...blogged yesterday, but y not rght?

Well this is about what I'm going to do....i mean with the rest of my life...so if u cant give a rat's ass, stop reading now.

ok...
Most of you, at least those who know me know that I'm going abroad to study animation next september (God willing). Fine. I mean it's what i've always loved, drawing is what i do best and what i like doing the most.
but I got thinking,
when u get down to it, how am i going to use this for Him, yes yes christian cartoons and so on hopefully in the future, but until then (because lets face it, until i am in the right possition to choose the subject of a cartoon im just a guy producing about 16seconds out of a whole film)
So my mind wondered back to music...
And it did this, not because i'm jealous of the band, or because it's cool, it's that lately people have been coming up to me and telling me that either they see me playing something, or that they're surprised I dont play anything yet, and I been wondering too...like, i've got the right mind for the job (someone told me this, i wouldnt say it otherwise)
anyway...
the problem arises then of course....what am i gonna play, and how am i gonna learn...definitly dont got the money to pay an instructor (what with saving for school abroad and all) let alone buy the instrument...especially if its something expensive....
on that matter..I've been told, either bass, or drums....dunno really, i like them both...kinda lean more to the drums cause well they make more noise :)
so share with me people...
and pray for me pls.

Xmun Out.

ps: two kick ass videos, sure most of you have seen the drum one.
these are solos, the first one is drums, second is bass, by people from Planet Shakers...i know it will take years to reach their level, but one can dream...

pps. it will be nice it i can take part in making the music score for an animation film im working in one day, no? :)

I rarely post comments on blogs but here's my 2c since you asked for it...

How are you going to use your drawing abilities for God?

Well, Simon, the problem about human beings is that they cannot see past their noses most of the time. I'm sure God has some project up His sleeve that only YOU can carry out through your art work. God created you with a purpose in mind! He designed you appropriately so that you would be able to carry out that purpose like no one else can. Knowing God, He even uses the smallest of things to build His kingdom, let alone a big talent such as yours. So, just trust Him on the issue and let Him guide you gently.

And if you want to learn an instrument...go ahead! It's a fun and good way to relax, especially if you like music. But don't do it because you're being pressured to do it or becuase you think that you can only serve God through music. Remember, just as the human body is made up of many parts each having a different function, the Church (body of Christ) is made of many members (body parts),each having a different and equally important function (Romans 12:3-8). (I don't want to bore you to death with these philosophies, but we tend to forget them, and it's a real shame when we do). Just do it because you love music for what it is. And, personally, I imagine you holding a base rather than drum sticks. But that's just me I guess...

i agree with both of u .. hell why not both :P no im just kidding i think ur abit too tall for a bass hehe id see u on drums ...

Listen sim... do what u feel God is telling you to do and no one else .. ok i knw its sounds cliche... do what you love most doing and no one else can figure it out but you sim! If God wants you to do this then he'll make it possible for you to do so ... and if not .. then ur meant to play the flute instead :P jk .. want i mean is that .. God provides! hope i helped abit!

I don't think you necessarily have to do a Christian cartoon to give glory to God. I think if you're responsible, give a good example to all the people working with you, and produce good work, God would be very proud. And about instrument...if you don't have money, don't think about drums....they are unbelievably expensive, and you can't practice whenever you want due to neighbours etc... a guitar isn't expensive and isn't too hard to learn on your own...Anyways, it's useless saying I see you playing this instrument or that....just play something you like and that you can afford.

ok...reality check :youre going abroad...1. you dont have the time to learn an instrument and even if you did find the time 2. instrument=lessons, lessons=money, money=denmark. its what you really want to do sim...drawing. Seriously speaking, i would work and save up for abroad...youre gna need all the money you can get. And anyway, God is pleased anytime you use your talents in a good and pure way. You're using his talents. Just set ure priorities right :)then when you come back, or maybe start making ure own money...then play nything you want. gb
